Hot Dixie Chick (foaled February, 2007 in Kentucky) is an American Champion Thoroughbred filly racehorse.
Out of the mare Above Perfection, a descendant of the very influential sire, Caro, Hot Dixie Chick was sired by Dixie Union, a son of the Stakes winner, Dixieland Band who is a son of the most successful sire of the 20th Century, Northern Dancer. The National Thoroughbred Racing Association calls him "one of the most influential sires in Thoroughbred history".
Trained by Steve Asmussen, racing at age two Hot Dixie Chick is currently undefeated, winning all three of her starts. Always a frontrunner, after winning her debut in a sprint race at Saratoga Race Course, Hot Dixie Chick won the 6 furlong Grade III Schuylerville Stakes at Saratoga, New York. In her next outing she proved she is not just a speed freak, she won the Grade I, 7 furlongs Spinaway Stakes in stakes record time of 1:22.28. Her 2007 performances so far has made Hot Dixie Chick and early favorite in the 2009 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies, however there are some speculations that she might not be able to handle the distance, but should be note that her pedgree leads to Northern Dancer who was a speed freak but also won the Kentucky Derby at a mile and a quarter in record time until Secretariat and Sham broke it in 1973. He finished his derby in time of 2:00 flat, the 4th fastest in history.
